Romance and Fun

Imagine discovering a romantic message written in the snow in an idyllic winter setting. That’s what led to Danielle and Milo’s wedding day. It was December 28, 2017 when the couple headed out to Danielle’s favourite place in the woods. At the beaver pond, a serene spot where Milo’s dad had built a beautiful bridge and a gazebo, they came upon the love note: Dani will you marry me?
Less than seven months later, they were making their marriage official. “We knew we wanted a small wedding with our immediate friends and family, and we wanted it to be fun,” Danielle says, so the engagement was short, and the goal was clear: a romantic, intimate and enjoyable wedding day.
“We had everything planned and ready in about four months.”
The date they chose was their fourth anniversary: July 14, 2018, and the venue was The Brockville Country Club. Since they both enjoy golfing and play at the Brockville club weekly, it was the perfect place and time for celebrating their big milestone as a couple.
“The staff and fellow members are like family to us,” the bride says.
Their ceremony took place in the evening on the 10th tee. For this couple, a later schedule for the big event was ideal. “It allowed us to enjoy our day and not be rushed; we slept in and decorated the reception area in the late morning. Milo played golf after-wards with his best friend, while I got ready with my mom and best friend.” Photos were shot before the ceremony, taking advantage of the sunset and allowing the bride and groom to spend the time after the ceremony with their guests. “We loved that we had an evening wedding.”
Danielle’s dress, Maggie Sottero’s Sandra design, and accessories were from Isis Dress for Special Occasions. “I couldn’t imagine getting my dress anywhere else, as this store and owner are very close to my heart,” she says, mentioning she had a seamstress add straps to the gown. “I wanted to feel elegant and sexy, so this dress was the perfect mixture of both worlds. I loved the delicate straps that were made for it, and the back was to die for.” The bride’s hair was by Aura Brockville and her makeup was by Becky Chevrier.
There were plenty of sentimental touches too. Flowers were by Colonial Flower & Gifts, and Danielle wrapped lace fabric from her grandmother’s and mother’s wedding dresses around her bouquet, then attached her nana’s and great grandmother’s brooch. She also used her great aunt’s purse.
The décor styling was also meaningful. Danielle’s dad built the arch with cedar from the family property. Lanterns, candles and patio lights were used for the ceremony, and then inside for the reception. Greenery and whites predominated, with plenty of wood and eucalyptus.
Milo and Danielle wrote their own vows and exchanging them “was a moment we will never forget,” the bride notes. The cock-tail-style reception featured appetizers and signature drinks, while the first dance was Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. Then the father-daughter dance was fun for all, since it was not a traditional slow dance. Instead, the choice was Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane. “I used to sing this song when I was little, so it was only fitting that we danced to it,” Danielle says.
