Trevor and Dakota | August 14, 2021

In the Spring/Summer 2021 edition of Ottawa Wedding, a feature about Trevor and Dakota’s engagement trotted across pages 52 to 59. Stunning outdoor photos by Of Wild and Wander’s Savannah Mina introduced this loving couple in a Pakenham field as they visited with the other loves of Dakota’s life: horses Shadow, Sparky and Moonshine.
Try though he did, Trevor wasn’t able to pop the question on a visit to see the horses. Instead, he finally caught Dakota by surprise as they were leaving her mother’s place. At the end of the lane by the big maple tree, he got down on one knee.
They got married in the same lovely spot on August 14, 2021. “Being able to have our wedding at my mother’s house, where I grew up, was very special for us all,” Dakota says. “It was the perfect day.” About 35 guests were on hand for the intimate, country-chic affair with vintage touches. The colour palette was neutral, with soft pinks, oranges and the slightest, hint of blue. Naturally, both the bride and groom wore cowboy boots.
“My favourite part of the day was getting to see Trevor waiting for me at the end of the aisle: My best friend,” says Dakota. There were other moments she’ll also cherish: “I loved that I got to get ready in the room that I grew up in. Walking down my mother’s front yard, where we have so many memories, was so special. And of course, our family being able to celebrate our very special day with us.”
Dakota’s advice for brides- and grooms-to-be? “The day goes by so fast; just try to relax and enjoy it.”
