Though Bre and Will were born and raised in Perth—population 6,000—and live there still, they actually met online. And when it came time to host their wedding day, they ventured further afield.
“We wanted a smaller wedding surrounded by our closest friends and family, in nature, with delicious food and a gorgeous backdrop that also had a nice indoor setting,” the couple explain. They found the perfect spot, Le Belvédère, in Wakefield, Québec. So 75 of their closest friends and family members joined them there—“on a Thursday, 1.5 hours away from our hometown”—to celebrate the life-changing day.
It was pretty special. Bre mentions that when her dad passed away in 2016, she kept a blue piece of his clothing to sew into her dress as her “something blue.” She also carried a bouquet charm of blown-glass with her dad’s ashes. “It was the closest thing to him being a part of walking me down the aisle,” she notes. As for her mom? “I surprised her on our wedding day with a cruise to the Bahamas!”
Family friends Bre considers to be her aunt and uncle served as the officiants, Will’s uncle served as the Master of Ceremonies and even Bre’s wedding band had sentimental significance. It was passed down from her great aunt to her mother and then to her.
Besides those meaningful elements, there were treats too. Since both Will and Bre love ice cream, they had an ice cream sundae bar and since Bre is a long-time competitive Irish dancer, Sue Fay Healy Irish dancers performed during dinner. “It was so fun to watch the Irish dancers.”
